I fell into a heap of innocence,
Lost my dollars and my sense-
My sense of pride it took a ride.
Now I'm teetering in the middle of the side.
My legs tied,
My brain fried,
My arms they died,
My eyes they cried-
Out for someone to help me through.
I just don't know what to do?
Lost my dollars and my sense-
My sense of pride is on the fence.
And in my distraught soul,
I must have paid thy toll,
And obscurity suddenly took a stroll.
You see I was driving,
Hustling down the route,
I know so well.
I was struck down by a red light.
And in my rear view,
A woman touched a mans face,
And kissed him softly.
The light turned green,
And I could shift-
I couldn't lift,
My heavy heart off that road.
I just looked at them smiling,
Sun coming in so warm,
Tunes blaring into the mornings craze.
My heart was ablaze,
And to my amaze-
The couple smiled back,
As if they knew that I knew what they knew.
Caught in someone else's moment,
For a moment,
And for a moment-
I felt the world beating.
I felt my whole life drive past me on the other side.
I felt the sun melting my jaggedness.
I felt the words of my father.
I felt the drumming of existence.
I felt the meaning of life.
